Finding Displacement:

Common displacement takes place when anything is moved from its original position. A well-defined footprint or shoe print in soft, moist ground is a good example of displacement. Displacement can also result from clearing a trail by breaking or cutting through heavy vegetation with a machete. These trails are obvious to the most inexperienced tracker who is tracking. Direction of travel cannot be determined with this skill. Displacement can be further investigated for these fine details. (See Analyzing Displacement) Time: You take no extra time to use this skill. It is always in effect.

Finding Displacement (Uncommon) - Advanced displacement takes place when anything minute and above notice is moved from its original position. A slight footprint on grass or a stirring of dust can leave a shoe print. Foliage, moss, vines, sticks, or rocks that are scuffed or snagged from their original position form valuable indicators. Displacement can also result from successful countertracking when the enemy is brushing by plants and breaking or bruising light vegetation. These trails are not obvious to most inexperienced trackers. Details can be further investigated to analyses displacement advanced. (See Analyzing Displacement) Time: You must slow to half speed to do this or 1/4 if you are also using counter tracking.

Find Displacement (Rare). In areas that are difficult to track such as stone floors or in a stream dust may be dragged or displaced, dew droplets moved or smeared, or stones and sticks overturned to show a different color underneath. Grass or other vegetation may be slightly bent or broken in the direction of movement. The tracker inspects all areas for bits of clothing, threads, or dirt from footgear that can be torn or can fall and be left on thorns, snags, or the ground. Flushed from their natural habitat, wild animals and birds are another example of displacement. Cries of birds excited by unnatural movement is an indicator; moving tops of tall grass or brush on a windless day indicates that someone is moving the vegetation. Footprints can be further investigated for displacement which is the fine details of the imprint. (See Analyzing Footprints)

Find Displacement (Unique). In areas that are near impossible to track such as stone floors or with a target who is flying this skill is needed. Flushed from their natural habitat, wild animals, birds, insects, and spiders are another example of displacement. Valuable clues are disturbed bees, ant holes uncovered by someone moving over them, or torn spider webs. Spiders often spin webs across open areas, trails, or roads to trap flying insects. If the tracked person does not avoid these webs, he leaves an indicator to an observant tracker.Cries of birds excited by unnatural movement is an indicator. Also moved tops of tall grass or brush on a windless day indicates that someone is moving the vegetation. Footprints can be further investigated for displacement which is the fine details of the imprint. (See Analyzing Footprints) Changes in the normal life of s may indicate that someone has recently passed.
