Medieval Fantasy RPG Rules (Eternus)
Negating Terrain: Terrain can greatly reduce or hinder your character both in movement and in skill use. Fortunately special training allows you to compensate for and effectively negate a particular type of terrain. This can be done as an instant action for anyone with the training to do so. If a particular terrain type is beyond your skill then your training can partially compensate for the advanced terrain. For example, if your character has common training in Negate Terrain II (Close) which negates uncommon terrain (up to -20 defense and skill) for example and you crawl through a tight tunnel that is considered Terrain IV (Close) which gives -40 to both then the difficulty is reduced to -20 instead of -40.
