Adarga Shield - The adarga shield is a small shield that is both stiff and flexible and is shaped like a pair of overlapping ellipses or ovals. It straps to the arm and can be covered in stout textiles, lamellar or light chain. Inside is a pair of leather grips held in the hand or strapped to the forearm,

Note: Unlike most shields an adarga can be used mounted due to the specialy designed shape.

Adornments: Adargas are often decorated with incised and gilt ornaments, inscriptions, and metal appliques and borders denoting status and heritage.

History: They are most famously used in the noble sport the "Game of Canes", a sport involving teams of horsemen who hurled javelins made of cane at one another that had to be dodged or deflected with the adarga.
