Reinforced Aventail - An aventail is a flexible curtain of reinforced mail that attaches to a helm. It extends to cover the neck and shoulders.

Equipping: Aventails were typically attached to the helmet via small staples known as vervelles. The mail could be attached to the helm by threading a leather cord through brass rings at the edge of the helm.

Adornments: Aventails can be adorned at the outer edging or with a zig-zaging lower edge. This is typically done with with chainmail links made of precious metals.
