Medieval Fantasy RPG - Middlesex

Middlesex (City of London, Harrow, Enfield, Staines, Ealing, Potters Bar, Westminster )

1) Westminster - This ruined city is in the middle of a huge forest and was once the hub of nobility and power for the Kingdom of Eternus. At one time it held the palace of the King and Queen. After a violent revolution of the nobility the Queen and all living relatives were killed and the King disappeared. The royal city fell into decay.

2) Port of Halifax – This port city sits on a large peninsula and is one of the only points accessible to the sea for hundreds of miles around. The rest of the areas along the nearby coast are surrounded by huge 1000 foot tall cliffs. As such this port city is constantly busy and is a hub of activity for most of the traders and others in the area. The city is controlled by the two kingdoms and is divided into a southern port and a northern port. Due to the importance of the port both kingdoms provide uneasy cooperation to track down any criminals or anyone else that interferes with the business of the port. Because of the high price of goods theft is always a problem. A powerful thieves’ guild called the Cult of Silent Death is a constant threat to both factions.

Dark Spire – This large area contains many large towers and castles that remain in decent shape despite the years of disuse. It used to be part of the Kingdom of Eternus but was the sight of a large battle during the civil war and was abandoned afterwards while the kingdoms rebuilt. Both kingdoms wish to reclaim it but because of the large number of evil spirits and other supernatural creatures that linger in the area it remains abandoned. Legend says that there is a large treasure room hidden somewhere in the near endless catacombs beneath the main spire. It is said to hold the royal jewels and magical weapons from one or both of the kingdoms and other valuables that were stored there to protect them from theft during the battle. Both kingdoms have sent in expeditions to explore the areas but no one has ever returned

6) Village of Nightshade– This large village outside of Dark Spire was also initially abandoned after the war and remained that way until recently because of its proximity to Dark Spire. Because of the need for low cost housing it was cleared of most of the wandering spirits and reclaimed by the Villagers who now offer it for low cost to those brave enough to live under the shadow of Dark Spire. The main area of the village is relatively safe except for on the red moon when spirits become strengthened and tend to wander outward from Dark Spire to the Village. Rumors persist of secret entrances in the village that lead into the catacombs deep in the depths of Dark Spire.
